Abstarct: Abstract In recent years, several cases of torsional instability of rows of solar power plants have been observed under the effect of wind loading, which necessitates a more detailed investigation of the structure of the power plant. One of the parameters that must be considered in solar power plants is the distance between the panels during installation. In the instructions for installing solar power plants, a mandatory distance of 2 cm between panels is mentioned. This distance is mostly used for purposes such as managing the expansion and contraction of the panels and reducing the wind load of the power plant. This distance can be greatly affected by the warping phenomenon. In the analysis of structures, the phenomenon of warping in beams has been mentioned as the out-of-plane displacement of the cross-section of the beam due to shear and torsional loading of the cross-section of the beam. The photovoltaic array is under the effect of the twisting torque caused by the wind or the torque applied by the sun tracking system. In this study, the solar array is considered as a thin-walled beam with a open section under torsional moment. Bending effects are ignored. The phenomenon of warping is examined in detail. By examining the 550 watt solar panel manufactured by Hisamas Company, the warping displacements related to the panel were calculated and the distance between the panels was examined from this point of view for the limit loading conditions.
